✈️ Airports
Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) – The closest and most convenient option, just about 15 minutes from downtown.
Burbank Airport (BUR) – A great middle ground: usually less hectic than LAX, and about a 2-hour drive up the coast to Santa Barbara. From BUR, you have a great train option (see below).
Los Angeles International (LAX) – The biggest airport with the most flight options. Plan for about a 2.5-hour drive to Santa Barbara (longer with traffic, but you’ll get those ocean views along the way), or plan to take the shuttle (see below).
🚗 Ground Transportation
Renting a car from LA is an option, but there are also plenty of alternatives:
Shuttle (LAX) –
Santa Barbara Airbus Shuttle offers direct service from LAX to Santa Barbara, typically taking between 2 to 2.5 hours.
Central Coast Shuttle also runs from LAX to Santa Barbara every 4 hours.
Train (BUR) – Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner stops at the Hollywood Burbank Airport (Bob Hope) station. From there, the direct coastal train ride up to Santa Barbara takes around 2 hours. It’s comfortable, scenic, and a great way to skip freeway stress.
Rideshare – Uber and Lyft are available, though less common for long-distance trips.

If you’ve got a little extra time while you’re in town, Santa Barbara has plenty to explore - whether you’re up for sipping wine, meeting giraffes, or soaking in a little history. Here are a few of our favorite spots to check out between wedding festivities.
THE SANTA BARBARA ZOO
A family favorite, the Santa Barbara Zoo is small enough to see in an afternoon, but full of charm. We love it for a laid-back stroll (and the giraffes always steal the show).
THE FUNK ZONE
This vibrant arts and culture district is packed with wine-tasting rooms, breweries, street art, and boutique shops. It’s one of our favorite spots to wander, and grab a glass of wine for a laid-back evening.
SANTA BARBARA MISSION
Nicknamed the “Queen of the Missions,” this historic landmark offers stunning architecture, rose gardens, and sweeping views of the city. A must-see for California history and anyone who loves a good photo backdrop.
